Recently, a client from here in Gainesville visited Sound Depot and Performance looking to upgrade the technology in his 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. He had purchased a base model vehicle and wanted to add some safety and convenience features to his new ride. The client was looking for the convenience of in-dash navigation and touch screen controls. He also liked the idea of a reverse camera.
After going over some options with us, he decided on the Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX in-dash navigation with Apple CarPlay. To go along with the new head unit, we installed an Echomaster VM-10L reverse camera. We also used a Maestro ADS-SW steering wheel interface to retain the factory audio controls.
The installation went well, but the aftermarket integration solution located new radio low in the dash. While the radio fit nicely and looked great, it was hard to see. Ultimately, the client didn’t like the location. That’s when we went to work on a new solution. We removed the factory information screen,d relocated it to the newly installed lower panel and mounted the Pioneer radio up high in the dash. We had to make a few modifications to the upper panel to make the new unit fit in the upper dash, but we think it was well worth the effort.
After the modifications, the client loved the fit and location. As you can see in the pictures, the new Pioneer AVIC-5200NEX looks great in its new home. The client commented that it looked like Nissan put the Pioneer radio in at the factory!
