Rear seat entertainment is a great way to allow all passengers to enjoy the drive. Whether it’s entertaining the kids with a DVD on a family road trip or a video game for the guys heading to tailgating at a sports event, there are plenty of options for a great mobile video system in your vehicle.
Overhead Mobile Video Systems
At Sound Depot & Performance in Gainesville, we offer overhead-mounted video systems that feature a flip down screen. These screens typically measure 10-23 inches diagonally and hide neatly away when not in use. This provides easy accessibility, but added security when not in the vehicle. Some of our overhead video systems feature onboard DVD players, game system inputs and wireless headphones. Of course we can add any of these features to personalize the overhead video system to fit your needs. Our expert installation technicians attach the overhead to a metal cross brace in the roof to fully secure it to the vehicle, rather than sandwich it between the headliner and a piece of wood. We believe our approach to installation makes our overhead video system installations much safer for the customer and their passengers.
If your vehicle has an existing, factory-installed overhead video system and we are upgrading your in-dash head unit, we can often connect the two together to provide video functionality to the factory overhead with the new in-dash unit.
Replacement Headrest Systems
As an alternative to overhead video systems, we also offer factory-fit headrest replacement systems. A replacement headrest (rather than modifying the original headrests) allows flawless installation and an easy route to return the vehicle to its original condition when you trade it in or sell it. These use high-resolution video screens measuring 7-9 inches diagonally and are finished in factory matched upholstery. NHTSA-compliance means the replacement headrests are constructed to the equally high standards as factory equipment. Many headrest systems offer on-board DVD or multimedia card players and external jacks to connect a tablet or game system. A pair of wireless headphones is also often included.
Tablet Mounts
If you want to carry in a tablet-device such as Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Windows-based or Android-based tablets, we offer mounts to securely attach them to the seat back or other location so that the tablet is not a liability. We also offer hard-wired solutions to supply charging to the tablet and wireless audio to headphones, whether RF or Bluetooth-based. This approach ensures a safe use of the tablet so that all your passengers need to do is enjoy the video content.
Multimedia Head Units
Many of our full-featured head units play DVDs and other media from USB or SD cards. We can configure the head unit to output that video material on a second zone (Zone 2) and connect screens throughout the vehicle, whether overhead, headrest –mounted or elsewhere. This allows the front seat passengers to enjoy the radio or iPod (if connected) and the rear seat passengers can enjoy something else. Audio for the second zone can be routed to wireless headphones so it’s truly a two zone solution. Ask one of our product specialists for more information and a comprehensive demonstration.
