Driving safely and integrating your technology shouldn’t be rocket science. At Sound Depot & Performance in Gainesville, we offer a solution that take the smartphone out of your hand and places your attention on the road, yet still allows all the access to your phone, music and information that you’ll ever need. With so much focus on staying connected and accessible at all times, we know how to accomplish this without compromising your focus behind the wheel. Of course the other significant benefit is your car’s sound system has considerably better sound than the tiny speaker in your smartphone.
Bluetooth Hands-Free Calling
For Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, we offer many solutions to conduct calls completely hands-free. We offer aftermarket in-dash head units with highly integrated Bluetooth features, including voice recognition to simply speak the person’s name you wish to call. We also offer stand-alone Bluetooth hands-free systems that can easily and seamlessly add on to any vehicle that lacks Bluetooth hands-free calling. The stand-alone systems are ideal for those customers who wish to keep their existing in-dash radio, yet want to add Bluetooth hands-free calling technology to their car.
Most of our Bluetooth hands-free solutions support access to the phone’s contacts which means features like Caller ID are enabled, making it easy to determine who is calling. If the car’s audio system is playing, the hands-free system will mute the audio (typically pausing the song if playing other than the radio) and resume play once the call has ended. Regardless of which Bluetooth hands-free solution you choose, we can demonstrate it in our showroom on your own Bluetooth-enabled phone by pairing up to the system and letting you experience placing and receiving calls firsthand.
Bluetooth Streaming Audio
If your Bluetooth-enabled phone supports the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), we can offer you added wireless connectivity between your phone and the car’s audio system. This allows you to ‘stream’ music wirelessly into the audio system, whether from stored music on the device, or from apps like Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, iHeartRadio or other streaming audio apps that use the phone’s data connection.
Many of our best Bluetooth streaming audio solutions also support display of song title, album and artist information, including cover art. If you have factory steering wheel controls that integrate with the car’s in-dash head unit, those controls can also be used for play/pause and skip to next/last track while in Bluetooth audio streaming mode. It’s a great way to play audio without connecting any wires, which means your passengers can easily connect and share their music in your car, too.
Wired Audio and Video Solutions
Many of our aftermarket multimedia head units feature Apple and Android smarthpone connectivity. With this enhanced functionality, some smartphones can share their screens and available apps with the new head unit so your experience interacting with the in-dash stereo is very similar to operating your phone.
- One example is Pioneer’s NEX series of multimedia head units that support Apple CarPlay, the latest technology from Apple to create a more integrated experience in the car. With CarPlay support, you can use Siri voice control to access apps and functionality on your iOS device when connected with a Lightning cable and never touch the smartphone at all.
In addition to device-specific support like CarPlay, other general functionality with Apple and Android-based phones may enable voice control so that you can dial, receive and end calls by only speaking specific commands. Some enhanced voice controls also access playlists, read and respond to email and text messages as well as keep you connected with social media apps, all without touching the smartphone.
In addition to voice control, additional functionality may offer video output from the phone’s video library or web-based apps (such as YouTube) to the new in-dash head unit while you’re parked, or to other screens in the vehicle as a secondary zone. Complete control of all functions, either through voice or buttons on the in-dash unit ensure whatever you’re accessing on the smartphone means you need not touch the phone while behind the wheel.
Charging
If we install a completely wireless smartphone solution for you, such as hands-free calling and streaming Bluetooth audio, we can hard wire a charging connection so that you need not have messy charging adapters and cords running all over your vehicle to keep the phone charged. It’s just one additional feature that our thoughtful installation experts can offer as we fully integrate your smartphone into your vehicle.
