A repeat client from Gainesville, FL, with a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu came to us for a subwoofer and amplifier bass upgrade. He discussed his need for massive bass, and we assembled a great-sounding system for him.
We chose an Audio Control LC-6.1200 amplifier to power the speakers in the cabin of the car. This amplifier provides the ability to sum multiple factory wiring audio signals. It produces a signal that can be used by itself and other external amplifiers in the system. We used one RCA output on this amplifier to feed the inputs of two Memphis PRX1000.1 amplifiers. These powerful mono amps push two Memphis M610D4 subwoofers each, resulting in a total of four subwoofers.
We placed the subwoofers in a custom-built ported enclosure in the trunk. Then, our technicians used ample wiring and connectors to handle the power delivery to the amplifiers.
We also installed an MPower MP1200 Absorbed Glass Mat battery for its quick-recharge ability. As a result, the vehicle delivers all of the power to the amplifiers required for heavy bass.
