Escort Radar Detector for Gainesville Ferrari 458 Owner

Ferrari RadarA client from here in Gainesville recently contacted the team at Sound Depot and Performance to inquire about a radar detector for his 2013 Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder. The client had recently received a speeding ticket while driving through Paynes Prairie and didn’t want to relive that experience. After inspecting the vehicle and talking with the client, we came up with a way to deliver excellent radar detection and premium laser protection while keeping the labor hours to a minimum.

Escort Radar Detector Helps Prevent Speeding Tickets

The front of the Ferrari is now protected with 3 laser shifters and a radar receiver.

All of the wiring was neat and tidy.

The speeding ticket protection system we installed is based on an Escort MAX Ci system. Our team started the project by mounting three Escort ShifterMax transceivers in the front grille. The center sensor is located just above the chrome Prancing Horse emblem. The other two sensors are mounted to the undersides of the lateral fins that divide the air intake.

The wiring for the sensors is bundled and routed securely through the front of the vehicle to the ShifterMax Bridge module located beside the front storage compartment. We used heat shrink tubing on all the sensor connectors to ensure that everything will be 100% watertight and reliable.

We mounted the radar receiver to the chassis of the vehicle behind the front bumper cover. Radar signals can pass through the bumper material with almost no loss of signal strength.

Radar Control Panel and Display

The display was tucked under the radio controls.

The control panel was mounted in the center console.

To keep the installation costs to an absolute minimum, our team affixed the display for the Escort MAX Ci under the control pod that extends from the center of the dash. This location puts the display well within the client’s peripheral vision while driving. The controller is mounted in the center console in a natural location that the client can access to mark locations of known false alarms or cancel the laser shifter signal once he’s confirmed that the vehicle speed won’t attract attention.

Gainesville’s Radar Detector Experts

Our team finished the installation by ensuring that all the sensors are aligned to provide optimal performance. When the client returned to our store, we went over the installation with him and explained how the system works and how to use it. He was very appreciative of our attention to detail and commitment to quality.
