Being in Florida we work on quite a few trucks. Trucks are great vehicles, but many times pose some unique problems for audio systems. We have learned how to overcome most of the challenges and build some really great sounding trucks! The owner of this 2008 Ford F250 came to us looking to get one of our great sounding audio systems. They wanted it loud and clean, with plenty of bass.
After consulting with the client on how the truck is used and the space we would have to work with we designed a system built to exceed the client’s expectations, while respecting his budget. We started with a Kenwood DNX990hd Wifi enabled headunit. This thing brings cutting edge technology to the dash! The audio signal then is amplified by 2 JL Audio amplifiers:
- XD1000/1 powering the subwoofers
- JX360/4 powering the door speakers
In the doors the truck received Memphis M-class 5×7″ coaxial speakers. These were a perfect fit for the Ford oval cutout. To really get the most out of the speakers we treated the doors with Hushmat to remove any resonances and added FAST foam rings to make sure all the sound gets into the truck. For the low-end reinforcement we went with 3 JL Audio 10TW3 subwoofers. Remember the unique problems mentioned earlier? One of those problems is mounting depth. This is where the JL 10TW3 really shines. It is a super thin subwoofer that has tremendous output and great sound. We installed the 3 subwoofers in a custom sealed enclosure behind the rear seat.
The resulting sound from this truck was awesome! It was loud, clean and had more than enough bass. If you drive a truck and would like to discuss some of the solutions we have for getting great sound in it, call, contact us, or stop by our facility today!
