Toyota of Gainesville recently contacted us about adding audio upgrades to their Toyota trucks as they focus more on their custom truck division. For this Toyota Tundra, they decided to do a full audio system upgrade, adding new front door speakers, an amplifier and a JL Audio Stealth Box. It was important that the audio system looked factory, so we decided to use the factory receiver as the vehicle’s audio source.
For power, we installed the JL Audio HD 900/5 compact amplifier. This amp provides 500 watts of subwoofer power and 400 watts that are directed to the front speakers. We upgraded the front doors to the Hertz hsk165.4 component speakers. While we were in the doors, we installed our MESA Mat sound deadening, along with Fast Ring speaker adapters. This inexpensive sound prep adds more focused mid-range sound while helping reduce distortion.
For bass, we installed the JL Audio SB-T-TCMAX/10tw3. This enclosure mounts behind the rear seat, housing two JL Audio 10tw3-4 subwoofers. The enclosure is a vehicle-specific solution that fits as if Toyota installed it themselves.
When the sales manager picked up the truck, he was extremely happy with the installation and quality of the new sound package.
