Computer-optimized voice-coil positioning provides linear operation over the entire range of motion of the sub. The patented injection-molded VRC ring strengthens the joint between the cone, the spider and the voice coil former, and improves power handling. The JL Audio 8W3v3 subwoofer features a single 4 ohm voice coil and is rated to be compatible with amplifiers that produce between 75 and 250 watts of power. Slot-Ported Enclosure For Maximum Efficiency
The unique enclosure design maximizes linearity and low-frequency output by using a relatively large flared slot port. The flared port design allows for a low tuning frequency without compromising the port area or risking the potential of hearing undesirable port noise when the system is played at high levels. JL Audio maximized the overall internal air volume of the CP108LG-W3v3 by using extensive internal bracing combined with 5/8” MDF panel material. The result is a resonance-free vented enclosure that far outperforms sealed enclosures of similar overall volumes. In other words, it sounds great and plays lower than you’d expect from a single 8” subwoofer.
The enclosure is finished with a high-quality black automotive carpet and features an embroidered JL Audio logo on the front panel. The system includes a perforated mesh steel grille to protect the subwoofer. A five-way binding post on the left side of the enclosure provides quick and reliable electrical connections.
