JL Audio FiX-82: What is it?
The FiX-82 is unique in the car audio industry. It is the first stand-alone processor that can automatically correct time-aligned outputs from factory audio systems before summing high-, low- and band-pass filtered signals together. Once summed to a full-range signal, the FiX-82 uses a 30-band equalizer to create a flat frequency response signal for each channel.
What It Offers
Other than being capable of summing signals from two-, three- and four4-way systems, the FiX-82 offers a set of 4V preamp outputs or an optical digital output with a Toslink connector. We can feed this digital signal into a DSP processor to allow us to tune your new audio system for smooth frequency response and great imaging.
How We Use It
After testing the output signal from your factory amplifier or source unit to ensure we will be able to cover the entire audio spectrum, we connect up to eight channels to the speaker level inputs of the FiX-82. The FiX-82 can accept up to 30V of input signal. A built-in signal detection system will activate a remote turn-on output that we use to turn on your aftermarket amplifiers.
The best part is that the processor makes the time and frequency adjustments automatically – all we have to do is play the included setup CD and press a button. The result is a smooth, phase-coherent signal that serves as the perfect foundation for adding new amplifiers and speakers.
