A returning client from Ocala recently asked the team at Sound Depot and Performance to design and install an upgraded audio system in his new Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000 EPS Northstar. The Ranger was a gift from the client’s wife, and he wanted an audio system that would sound clean while being able to handle the harsh environment of Florida’s trails and mud pits. After inspecting the vehicle, we designed a simple yet elegant upgrade that would deliver great sound with the durability the client wanted.
MTX Audio All-Terrain Soundbar
If you have been around the mobile electronics industry for a while, the MTX brand won’t be new to you. We based the audio system this in Polaris Ranger around one of the new MUDSYS46 soundbars from MTX. This all-in-one audio system is designed to mount cleanly to the roll cage and includes a source unit, amplifier and four 6.5-inch speakers for great sound. The source unit includes an AM/FM tuner and Bluetooth audio streaming so the client can play music from his smartphone. An integrated 250-watt amplifier ensures that the music is always loud and clear.
Polaris Audio System Overhead Speaker Upgrade
We added an MTX ORVKIT3 system to the Ranger audio system to give it a little extra kick. The system includes a pair of compact 6.5-inch speaker enclosures, a 200-watt amplifier and all the wiring we need to install the system. The soundbar includes an RCA output that made it easy to add the ORVKIT3, and the speaker pods include mounting brackets that work with the square tube design of the roll cage.
Gainesville’s Mobile Audio Installation Experts
As you can see, the installation on this Polaris Ranger is neat and tidy. All the wiring is properly protected and secured to ensure the system will remain reliable, even when the vehicle is pushed to its physical limits.
Our installation team finished the project by setting the sensitivity controls on the rear speaker amplifier so that the sound in the vehicle was balanced before giving the system a final listen to make sure there were no buzzes or rattles that would detract from the experience.
With everything dialed in, the client returned to Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville to see and hear his Ranger audio system for the first time. He loves the way it’s concealed at the top of the vehicle, and he was impressed with the clarity and detail of the system. The client plans to add a subwoofer in the future to warm up the sound and increase the overall volume capabilities of the system.
