A friend referred a Middleburg, FL, resident to us to upgrade the audio system in her 2014 Ford F-250. A subwoofer addition was in order, and a JL Audio CP208LG-W3V3 was deemed to be the best solution. This ported subwoofer enclosure houses two eight-inch subwoofers and is compact enough to fit behind the rear seat.
She wanted to retain the factory radio, which can present a challenge for a technician when adding an amplifier. As a general rule, many new factory radios do not provide simple audio signal outputs for use with aftermarket equipment. However, we used a PAC AP4-FD21 integration device specifically designed for this purpose, to obtain the perfect signal. We ran this signal to a JL Audio RD900/5 five-channel amplifier and mounted it behind the back seat. We used four of the channels to amplify the factory Sony speakers and the fifth channel to power the subwoofers. As a result, she ended up with a simple, great-sounding, audio system.
