Adding a subwoofer to a factory stereo system is a popular request in Gainesville, Florida. Recently, one of our long-time clients dropped off his Mercedes E550 Sedan for a subwoofer upgrade. He wanted lots of bass while still keeping some room in the trunk.
To achieve this, he chose the JL Audio HO112RG-W3V3 subwoofer enclosure. This speaker box has a JL Audio 12w3v3-2 subwoofer in a specific, tuned enclosure. It is a unique design that sounds great.
Another benefit of a JL Audio-built enclosure is an additional year of warranty provided by the manufacturer. To power the bass upgrade, we used a JL Audio XD300/1v2. This amp provides 300 watts of clean power, all in a space small enough to hide in the rear quarter panel.
To provide a clean signal to the amplifier, we converted the factory speaker levels using the very popular Audio Control LC2i. This converter does an excellent job of providing the clean signal the amplifier needs to perform.
