Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville now offers the Audiovox ADAS ACABSDLP license plate mount blind spot detection system. If your truck or SUV didn’t come with a blind spot monitoring system, we can upgrade your vehicle to let you know when someone is driving beside you. The ACABSDLP is like having your own personal co-pilot. Let’s look at how the system works.
What is Blind Spot Monitoring?
A blind spot monitoring system uses radar sensors mounted in the rear bumper that monitor the area beside and behind your vehicle for the presence of another car or truck. When someone is in this area, a light on your rearview mirror illuminates to warn you not to change lanes. If you activate your turn signal, the warning light flashes and an audible beep is produced.
How Does the Audiovox ADAS ACABSDLP Work?
The ACABSDLP is designed for vehicles with metal bumpers that prevent us from using a conventional blind spot monitoring system. The ACABSDLP is a license plate frame with built-in radar transceivers that mounts on the rear of the vehicle. The system activates automatically once you exceed 20 mph to let you know when someone is beside you. The system covers the lanes adjacent to your vehicle, and the detection area extends from roughly the back of the front doors to 30 feet behind the rear bumper.
Cross-Traffic Alert Warnings
The ACABSDLP automatically switches to a cross-traffic alert mode when your vehicle is in reverse. The shape of the monitoring zone switches to detect vehicles approaching from the left or right at a distance of more than 50 feet. The intelligent monitoring system automatically distinguishes moving objects from stationary items like parked cars, so you’ll only be alerted if something is approaching while you are backing out of your driveway or parking spot.
