A dash camera is an excellent way to protect yourself from unlawful behavior and capture vital information in the event of an accident. If you are looking for a unique and innovative dashboard camera solution, drop into Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville to experience the Kenwood DRV-N520. Let’s look at the DRV-N520 and how it will revolutionize in-vehicle video recording.
Kenwood DRV-N520 Features
The DRV-N520 features 1920 by 1080 full-HD video recording at 27 frames per second. Automatic image exposure control and HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology ensure that recordings are very clear and detailed in both bright sunlight and at night. An integrated gyro captures g-force information on all three planes while a built-in microphone records audio.
Event Recording Triggers
The camera can be triggered to save an Event recording in one of three ways: Pressing the large REC button on the body of the camera will save a movie containing 12 seconds of video from before the button was pressed, and up to 48 seconds after. The onboard gyro can also trigger an Event recording, similar to the way a car alarm shock sensor works. In parking mode, the camera stays on after the car is turned off, and continues to monitor the video image. If it detects motion in the video stream, it triggers an Event recording.
Multimedia Source Unit Integration
What sets the DRV-N520 apart from other dash cameras is its ability to integrate with several new Kenwood eXcelon multimedia receivers. The eXcelon DMX7704S, DDX9904S, DNX694S and DNX994S will not only display video from the DRV-N520, but will also post information from the Driver Support functions built into the camera. Control for video monitoring and playback is available through the touch-screen interface on the receiver. You can configure the camera system through the on-screen display menus as well.
Driver Support Functions
The DRV-N520 includes several driver support functions. Perhaps the most useful alert is the Forward Collision Warning. When the camera detects that you are approaching a stopped vehicle, a large red warning message will appear on the screen of the multimedia receiver and a chime is played to give you enough time to stop. The Departure Delay Warning will let you know if the traffic ahead of you has pulled away from an intersection with an alert. No more getting honked at for daydreaming.
