When it comes to truck lighting accessories, Putco 92009 Blade light bars from Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville are one of the coolest solutions available. The Blade series of rear light bars features more than 2,000 individual LEDs to replicate brake light, turn signal, running light and reverse light functionality. Let’s take a close look at the features and application of this these amazing lights.
92009 Blade Light Bars
Putco Blade light bars are designed to mount on the rear of your truck, SUV or Jeep. Most are installed as an additional “third brake light” between the bumper and the bottom of the tailgate on pickup trucks.
The light bars are available in two models: the 60-inch 92009-60 and the 48-inch 92009-48. The bars feature a fully waterproof design with an IP69K rating, so you know they’ll last for years. The light housing is made of polycarbonate plastic, so they are durable as well.
System Functions
The Blade light bars provide exceptional light output, making your truck more visible at night and in poor weather conditions. When it’s raining cats and dogs, the running light function will help drivers behind you know where you are. The bar is divided in half for turn signal functions, which illuminate in amber. When your vehicle is in reverse, the bar puts out a bright white light. This helps you see what’s behind you and can dramatically improve the performance of a backup camera system. As an option, we can wire the reverse functionality to a switch inside your vehicle to function as a work light.
Light Bar Installation
The kit includes a pair of mounting brackets that make the light easy to remove. In some instances, like Dodge Ram pickup trucks, the bar needs to be removed to access the spare tire. Alternatively, we can affix the bar directly to the bed of the truck. Both installations are done with premium 3M two-sided trim and molding tape, and the kit includes a 3M Adhesion Promoter wire to ensure things stay in place.
Our installation technicians will integrate the wiring into your vehicle seamlessly. While the kit includes a standard four-pin, trailer-style connector, we prefer to make solid, soldered electrical connections and leave your trailer connection available for your trailer. We never use T-taps or ScotchLoks that can corrode easily.
