Recently, a client brought us his 2017 Toyota Tundra, looking to add a subwoofer to his factory audio system. He wanted to maintain the factory look and have a system that looked as if it was designed with the interior in mind.
This particular truck has a storage compartment under the rear seat. After taking measurements, we determined that we could build a speaker enclosure in the compartment to house a JL Audio 10w1-2 subwoofer.
To power the system, we used our popular Kenwood x801.5 five-channel amplifier. This amplifier provides four channels of full range output that we directed to the speakers in the doors of the vehicle. The fifth channel is dedicated to subwoofer use and provides 500 watts to make this JL Audio come woofer come to life.
While we were working on the truck, the client also decided to upgrade the front door speakers, selecting the Hertz ESK165L.5 for that purpose.
With the new speakers, subwoofer and amplifier, this new Tundra sounds amazing!
